• REMAS

Los diferentes componentes de los sistemas forestales, en particular las plantas de los diferentes estratos vegetales y el suelo, pueden fijar significativas cantidades de carbono a través de diferentes procesos. Sin embargo, tras un incendio forestal, el ecosistema libera el carbono previamente fijado de la atmósfera.

Ante la proliferación de incendios forestales en la zona SUDOE, el proyecto Interreg SUDOE REMAS nace de la necesidad de cuantificar el riesgo de emisión de carbono, mediante un modelo de teledetección que relaciona el carbono contenido en la biomasa área, subterránea y en el suelo. 

REMAS tiene una duración de 36 meses (01/10/2019-30/09/2022) y  un presupuesto de 1,8 M € (1,35 M € de ayuda FEDER).

• ForBioEnergy

ForBioEnergy es un proyecto ambicioso e innovador pues apuesta por el desarrollo sostenible de las zonas rurales del Sur de Europa, utilizando la biomasa forestal de las áreas protegidas (Red Natura 2000) como fuerza impulsora. Además, representa una gran oportunidad para el uso sostenible de energía derivada de la biomasa, contribuyendo a la mitigación activa del cambio climático, especialmente sensible en la cuenca mediterránea.

Una parte significativa de los bosques mediterráneos se encuentra en áreas protegidas e incluso aunque representen una gran oportunidad para el aprovechamiento de energía sostenible a partir de biomasa, las altas restricciones impiden el desarrollo del sector.

El objetivo general del proyecto es fomentar el desarrollo de la cadena de valor bioenergética de base forestal como pilar de la bioeconomía a nivel local, aportando soluciones transnacionales a fin de reducir las barreras que obstaculizan el desarrollo de esta cadena de valor en particular y de todo el sector forestal en general, así como de sus modelos de planificación y los proyectos operativos derivados a implementar en el territorio. 

La finalidad es aprovechar el potencial de la biomasa forestal a través de la ordenación forestal sostenible y subsidiaria como herramienta del desarrollo rural en áreas protegidas, al mismo tiempo que se preserva la biodiversidad de las áreas protegidas.

• Europe in Question

In 2016 the European Union has been marked by significant events: the worst refugee crisis since World War II as well as BREXIT that have jeopardised the fundamental structure of EU which is still coping with the economic recession. The lack of adequate policies is raising distrust and dissatisfaction of citizens and more than ever voices against the European Union have been raised across the continent. It seems that the idea of a united and strong Europe is slowly disappearing from the collective consciousness.

The time has come to ask the Citizens what kind of EU they want. Citizens are mostly unaware of the effect of a possible disintegration of the European Union in their daily lives. Many of the advantages and opportunities within the EU, that are the result of many years of political economical process, are accepted by citizens as self-evident. Euroscepticism is on the rise. Citizens are losing confidence in the functioning of the EU institutions and phenomena like ignorance towards European programs, national egoism and the emergence of extremist political movements has shaken the foundations of what has been achieved in the last sixty years. If citizens will not be included in the discussion and will continue to make their decisions based on emotions, it will be extremely tough to overcome the common problems.

This project will reach citizens in their daily lives and try to resolve those issues that are relevant to their everyday situations. With this project we will promote critical thinking of different social groups and together we will seek proposals and concrete solutions at EU level. Activities are planned in a way that a large number of citizens who represent basis for a long-term cooperation network will be included.

The project aims to develop a network of European organizations that desires to disseminate as a best practice for the empowerment of civic participation of those citizens who have not been involved so far, or who reject the Union outright of put in question its achievements.
